Thoughts on "Wandering in the Wilderness"
Thoughts from February 27, 2022 Sermon
As the article Gifts of the Wilderness exlplains, "(w)ilderness seasons are bewildering and lonely. Sometimes it’s easy to identify how you arrived in a desolate place—down paths with names like Diagnosis, or Loss, or Depression. Other times you find yourself in a malaise or a spiritual wasteland seemingly out of nowhere. You were making progress, arranging your life appropriately, and then you took a left turn at Albuquerque and the landscape became fiercely inhospitable."
As we talked about during the sermon yesterday, Christians many times find themselves confronted by a wilderness experience. This experience is actually a theme running throughout the Bible. If today you feel overwhelmed by your experience, please take heart. Concerning the nation of Israel, the Scriptures indicate that God "took them out of the land of Egypt and brought them into the wilderness." (Ezekiel 20:10) However, those same Scriptures also clarify that God "led His people through the wilderness, for His lovingkindness is everlasting." (Psalm 136:16)
Beloved, there is nothing in your life that is unimportant to God. Everything matters to Him (Luke 12:7). Trust Him today. Your life is in His hands, and He will be faithful to see you through. (1 Thessalonians 5:24)
